My daughter was ready to give up on the ACT. It was a challenge she couldn’t quite master but she was determined. After having limited success with other tutors, we called Chana. From the beginning, we saw that Chana’s style was going to help. She was very organized, setting up folders, practice materials and to-do lists to keep Addison on track. For once, I didn’t need to get involved because Chana thought of everything. Addison struggled to process the questions and really understand what they were asking. Chana was extremely patient and took the time to explain the questions Addison was confused about and why the answers she picked were wrong. Even when Addison got frustrated, Chana reassured her and went over certain concepts multiple times to help Addison absorb the information. Whereas another tutor had coached Addison on guessing the right answer, Chana helped Addison understand why the right answer was correct and how to figure it out on her own. After just a few months of working together, Addison’s score went up. She was able to raise her score by 4 points (after previous tutoring) to a 30, which was a marked improvement after plateauing and finally a score she was very proud of and felt was worthy of submitting to schools. In the end, Addison got into almost every college she applied to out of over 20 schools! We could not have done it without Chana’s help. She continues to encourage students and be their cheerleader, even when they are unsure of themselves. She is a master tutor and someone I would recommend highly for the ACT or SAT exam.
