Welcome to Test Prep Tutoring!

I’m a professional SAT/ACT tutor with 4 years of experience and over 1,500 hours helping students improve their scores through structured, personalized instruction.​ My path to tutoring evolved organically. After graduating from Barnard College, Columbia University with a degree in English, I taught middle school English for a year and quickly realized that my favorite part of teaching was working with students 1-on-1. Tutoring felt like a natural way to continue to support students individually and thoughtfully.

 

Around the same time, I was also pursuing my creative interests in music and art. After moving to San Diego, I performed in a folk band, taught art workshops, and tutored academic subjects through Grade Potential Tutoring. I found that tutoring combined many things I valued: creativity, communication, mentorship, and the challenge of breaking down complex ideas in ways students could genuinely understand.

In 2020, I began specializing in SAT/ACT prep. To prepare for my first test prep role, I spent weeks studying math concepts and taking practice exams, scoring a 35 on an ACT for my application to PrepNow. As online learning expanded during the pandemic, I significantly increased my tutoring hours and deepened my focus on standardized test preparation.

Since then, I’ve worked with students through national companies (PrepNow, Learner Education), local branches (ClubZ!, Prep Pathways), and independent instruction, developing an approach that combines structured curriculum with flexibility and personalization. I’ve helped students improve by as much as 10 points on the ACT and up to 210 points per SAT section, and I’ve even created my own review guides and study materials.

Outside of tutoring, I continue to write music and create art. I value getting to know students beyond academics and believe that, in addition to strategically boosting test scores, college prep is a time for students to build confidence and think about their future goals. I am committed to helping students maximize their potential through clear guidance, consistent support, and a personalized plan for success.
